Mission Story

My Zone Leader and I were on splits in my last area. He and I came out to Nebraska at the same time and were going home at the same time. We were both burned out, and ready to go home. For me, that state of mind was "I can say anything and pretty much get away with it."

Anyway, Elder Dart and I were teaching a recent convert the new member discussions. I had the feeling the only reason she joined the church was because she "liked" the Elder that taught her in the first place. (Not me, some other fella) This girl was a bit of a harlot prior to joining the church. (I had another word picked out but I couldn't figure out how to spell it.) And was 7 months pregnant.

So, Elder Dart and I are chit chatting with her. She told us that she can't decide on a name for her little girl yet. I instantly say "How about Isabel?" Elder Dart turns and just stares at me with the expression of "I can't believe you just said that". It took everything I had not to crack up.

The girl (I can't remember her name) thought about the name and then said. No, I don't really like it.

The name Isabel is used in The Book of Mormon. Alma 39:3 and I quote: "And this is not all, my son. Thou didst do that which was grievous unto me; for thou didst forsake the ministry, and did go over into the land of Siron among the borders of the Lamanites, after the harlot Isabel."

You see it is possible to use the scriptures to insult someone.... Not the correct way to use the scriptures, but memorable.

I wonder

I wonder if the job title for a person who works at a vet and files away the folders would be called "Pet-a-file"

I don't know why I felt compelled to put that on my blog. I don't think I heard it, I was seriously sitting here at my computer and it just popped in my head... Anyone else see a problem here?

Misc pictures

I came across some of my more favorite pictures. They are of me, of course.

Rob, Chrissy, Lori, Randy, Scott, Richard, and myself all went camping. Rob and Chrissy had this HUGE tent that came with a kids tent. So of course I set it up and sat in it. It really does look like I am larger than life!
Travis and I were hiking in Georgia. I think Kelly was out of town and we were both bored. I wanted to get some pictures of waterfalls because Texas really doesn't have that type of scenery. Yet again, I felt it appropriate to be a dork and take a serious black and white picture. And what do you know? The stinking thing actually turned out good.
I also feel I should explain this next picture. The reason I found this so funny is because the National Park that I was at, found it important to notify the public of the slight incline on the side walk, but failed to mention anything about the 700 ft drop into the Canyon De Chelle just a mere 10 yards away.

Just for Michael TOM

When I saw this, I had to take a picture. I thought of you.

The car

I heard grumblings about the dog I found, but heard that ya'll liked the car. So here she is.

I try so hard to be cool, and fail so easily.

I thought the dash board was pretty cool.

Per Chrissy's request, I have added a picture of behind the vent. Zooming in you can see that I am looking at you.... weird huh?
Plenty of trunk space.

I had to clean out the tumble weeds before I could get in the car.

More pictures of the vacation

I went up into the mountains to drink in nature... and find a nice place to sit and read. This whole vacation I kept trying to find the "perfect" place to park my butt and read. It was very nice not having to worry about fire ants, chiggers, and other Texas bugs when finding the perfect place. I never found that perfect place, I would sit by a stream and think "Why do I have to pee?"

I did find a nice place in the mountains

But kept getting a wiff of something... so I had to look around for that something. Found a doggy that just wanted to play dead... and nothing else.

But I did end up playing in the snow.

Later in the trip, we found an old Buick... I guess they are all old, but you know what I mean. I think we spent way too long looking at this old car and the trash around it... but I guess I am not in tune with my artistic side... I did find a place to sit and read my book though... it was in the car.

All in all, I had a good time. It did feel good to get away from it all.
